Rosanne Tolin grew up in St. Louis, Missouri, with four siblings. As a little girl, she was inspired by Maurice Sendak’s Where the Wild Things Are, the Paddington Bear series, and Judy Blume books to write novels for middle grade readers. After graduating from Indiana University, she moved to Chicago to attend law school, but soon decided to pursue journalism instead—becoming the managing editor of a children’s magazine and winning a Hoosier State Press Award for her feature writing.

Her debut book, More Than Marmalade, is the first biography of the persistent author behind the Paddington Bear series, Michael Bond. Freedom’s Game was the 2025 National Council for the Social Studies Children’s Book Council Award winner.

She lives in Chesterton, Indiana, with her husband. When not writing, she can be found hiking with her dogs in the Indiana Dunes or Colorado’s Tenmile Range.
