2022 Genre Shortlist

Joe Lee is a cartoonist, illustrator, and writer.  Lee, a graduate of Indiana University with a BA in history and also a graduate of Ringling Bros Clown College (as a professional circus clown he worked for Ringling’s Circus World and traveled with King Bros-Cole and Hoxie Bros Circuses), is the author/illustrator of books on “Clowns”, “Dante”, and “Greek Mythology”. And illustrator of thirteen other books in the ongoing For Beginners  series.  He took his knowledge of circus and created “The LeGrande Circus & Sideshow Tarot” for U. S. Games in 2015. He is also the editorial cartoonist for the Bloomington Herald-Times, staff illustrator for Our Brown County Magazine, and frequent contributor to Bloom Magazine. October, 2021 saw the publication of his graphic novel/bio “Forgiveness: the Story of Eva Kor, Survivor of the Auschwitz Twin Experiments” for Red Lightning Books.
